LOCATION #1 Knox Forest - Bow, NH

Trail Map for my first location, Knox Forest off of Knox Road in Bow, NH
I parked at the Knox Road parking lot (see black circle).  The yellow line is the main trail thru this area, Robertson.

This system is well maintained, well marked with blazes and good signage.

The beginning section of the Robertson Trail is almost flat, has a level grade and is well packed.
This area is well suited to electric chairs, manual chairs, rollators or a cane.  You do not have to go far to immerse yourself in the beauty of Nature.

On the right hand side (east) before you come to the trail junction you come to a large boulder, evidence of glacial activity.  This is called a Glacial Erratic.  As a glacier moves, it picks up huge chunks of rock.  When it recedes, these huge rocks are left behind.

Robertson trail as seen from the gate at the parking lot.

At the second trail junction you come to the School Forest Loop (SFL) on the right (west) and the Parker Trail on the left (east).
I first decided to try the SFL.  An incline that would be no problem for my chair if it were solidly packed, but this is not the case.  I was able to make it to the top, but when arriving there, a fairly steep decent on the other side caused me to turn around.  Do Not Attempt to travel on the School Forest Loop.
I then decided to take the Parker Trail.  This is a narrower trail however not so much as to cause a problem with your chair.

The Parker Trail

The Parker Trail meets back up with the Robertson trail.  At this junction, I turned right onto Robertson to head back towards the truck.  Robertson became somewhat steep in this section.  Not terribly steep, but enough to cause me to be glad I went up Parker and not Robertson.

Next time in, I want to take a left at the top of Parker and see how much of Robertson I can easily traverse, and see what side trails may be worth investigating.
